Several receive awards at 2016 ASA/CSSA/SSSA meeting

The American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America (ASA/CSSA/SSSA) hosted more than 4,000 scientists, professionals, educators, and students at the 2016 International Annual Meeting from Nov. 6-9, 2016, in Phoenix, AZ.
Congratulations to the following University of Kentucky IPSS graduate students and UK faculty for their outstanding work at the meeting:
- Ethan Swiggart was awarded second place in the oral presentation competition among his peers. His presentation was titled “Could Winter Annual Crop Choice Increase No-Till Double-Crop Soybean Yield in Kentucky?”
- James Bowen received third place for his poster in the “Soil Fertility & Plant Nutrition/Nutrient Management & Soil and Plant Analysis Divisions PhD Poster Competition”. His poster title was “Assessing Spatial Variation of Soil Phosphorus Critical Level.”
- Brad Lee, Dwayne Edwards (BAE), Edwin Ritchey, John Grove, Jason Unrine, and Colby Guffey (Clinton County CES) were recognized by the ASA Extension Education Community with an Excellence in Extension Award for their poster “Phosphorous Runoff from Two Common Poultry Litter Treatments Applied at Integrator Rates on No-till Fields.”
