Paul Legg came to Kentucky from West Virginia to attend Berea College.  He received his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University. After a time on the faculty at UC Riverside Paul joined the Agronomy Department in 1966 as an adjunct faculty member working as a research geneticist with the USDA-ARS tobacco group in Lexington. Paul became a UK employee in 1982 as a professor in the department focused on dark tobacco agronomic and breeding research at Princeton.  During his career he participated in the release of numerous tobacco varieties (seed of three of those varieties was still sold last year) and received the Philip Morris Award for Distinguished Achievement in Tobacco Science.  He retired in 2004, but until the last year he came to the Princeton station nearly every day.  Paul passed away on October 15, 2016. Dr. Todd Pfeiffer shared "We are thankful for Paul’s career in the department and offer our sympathy to his family and friends."
