Chris Teutsch, University of Kentucky forage extension specialist, recently received the 2020 Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council’s Garry Lacefield Public Service Award.

Since joining the faculty at the UK Research and Education Center in 2017, Teutsch has developed a research and extension program focused on restoring pasture productivity and extending the grazing season. He created the popular Kentucky Fencing Schools, which are held each year in locations across the state and teach producers how to construct stronger boundaries.

Teutsch is the coordinator for the UK Master Grazer Program and serves as the educational advisor to the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council. He also provides leadership in the UK Grain and Forage Center of Excellence.

After serving in the Navy, Teutsch received his bachelors and master’s degrees at The Ohio State University. He received his doctorate at the University of Kentucky.

Prior to coming to UK, Teutsch served as an associate professor at Virginia Tech where he led a nationally renowned forage research and extension program.
