The North Central Weed Science Society recognized two of its members with University of Kentucky ties at their December 2016 meeting.  Rick Cole, a 1985 Ph.D. graduate in Weed Science under Dr. Bill Witt received the Distinguished Acievement Award in Industry.  Following graduation from UK, Rick went to work with PPG Industries.  In 1996 he joined the Monsanto Company where he held many positions and eventually was the face of the company for numerous media inquiries about weed resistance prior to his retirement.

Travis Legleiter, a Ph.D. candidate at Purdue University and soon-to-be Extension Specialist at the University of Kentucky Princeton Research and Education Center was recognized as the 2016 Outstanding Graduate Student.  Travis is currently researching glyphosate-resistant common waterhemp.  He is expected to join the UK faculty in July 2017.
