Preparation at UK:

"My time at the University of Kentucky in the Plant and Soil Science Department was instrumental in helping me get to where I am today.  One of the most attractive aspects of PSS was all of the top-notch faculty in the department.  Through my research projects, I was able to study with some of the best scientists in the world in agronomy, weed science, soil science, and plant physiology. All of the faculty in PSS were exceedingly helpful and always willing to share their knowledge.  My education at UK also provided me with numerous opportunities to grow my professional network through extensive travel both in the United States and internationally.  During my time at UK I was able to travel to and work with scientists at other major land-grant institutions across the county and also study internationally in Argentina and China which greatly supplemented my educational experience.  One of the most useful experiences that I had in my time in PSS were the Graduate Student Symposia hosted by the department. These symposia allowed me to develop my speaking and presentation skills in a comfortable environment and significantly improved my confidence as a public speaker and has certainly helped me in my current Extension responsibilities.  I can honestly say that the University of Kentucky and the Plant and Soil Sciences Department did a fantastic job developing me as both a student and a professional and I am very grateful for the opportunity."
